The spirit of Eastenders lives on in England

I was surprised that everyone who responded to my post on neighbours appeared to have less contact with their neighbours than me. :P
I thought city life in England would be one of the least neighbourly places on the planet...
We have a soap opera in England called 'Eastenders' which is about a community who live in the East end of London. The community spirit and contact that they have with each other there is clearly exaggerated for the sake of the show, but maybe we are quite community minded in the UK...?
Having said that, I can definitely see the wisdom of minimal contact. :P

It's a good and bad thing I think. Since having a better relationship with the neighbors is beneficial if an emergency arises, or you are out of town and others can look after your home and have your back if something suspicious occurs. So in that way, the lack of interaction these days doesn't completely work in our favour.
