Rotherham

We had a visitor at school yesterday. She was involved in the biggest police investigation in British history, probably best known to my British friends as the Rotherham grooming case.
She was one of a good number of young girls who were groomed and then abused by older men. She came to make our students aware of how grooming can happen so they can be wise to it.
We already have a number of students at our school who are victims of this kind of thing and it was really good that others might be able to avoid it.
Knowledge is power.

En ingles se dice: "what does grooming mean?" Or "grooming - what does that mean?". :)

Grooming is when an older person flatters and manipulates a younger person in order to use them for their own benefit. In this case it was a man in his 20s grooming a 14 year old girl. He got her involved in crime, like armed robbery. He also raped her and beat her. There seems to be much more awareness of that kind of behaviour now.

The story about that girl is very sad but it's good she is helping with her testimony to warn other people.

It's so good to educate young girls on grooming and what it is, so they can better protect themselves. I've sadly had my own experiences with this in my youth and wish I'd been taught more about it.
