I'm in Scotland. :)
We set off yesterday, at 6:00am.
There's something nice about being up at that time of the morning while everyone else is getting ready for work. I was stood at the petrol pump at 6:15, watching everyone else rushing around. No work stress for me for a change.
:)
We stayed at my parents flat in Ayr, went for a walk along the beach in the evening.
My parents flat is right next to the river so you can hear the water hitting the harbour wall when you have the window open. It's such a beautiful sound to fall asleep to.
Then this morning I was up at 6 again to take my oldest son to St Andrews university. Just the two of us.
The town is apparently where St Andrew (the disciple) is buried. I'm not normally impressed by relics but for some reason I liked the idea of being near to Andrew - guy who spent 3 years hanging out with Jesus. Well, his bones...possibly...
The university itself had a cool atmosphere. I'd loved to have gone there to study. Looking back, I had a poor attitude towards university life and didn't value it at all.
St Andrews is a little weird in that it's in the middle of nowhere, on the east coast of Scotland. It dates back 600 years (the third oldest uni in the UK), it's where Prince William met Kate :/ It's a quiet town with an unusually high number if American accents.
So there you go - a bit of education for you.
:/
Here's where Andrew is buried, allegedly:
