And really miserable in this picture too. Lol. We did smile and laugh at some points honestly.
I'm up in Scotland. Me and my family are staying in an apartment that belongs to my mum and dad, which is on the south west coast of Scotland. We're here for the best part of a week.
Yesterday we met up with my sister (who lives up here) and her family and we drove to loch Doon and set up camp by the waters edge.
We kept getting showers of rain but fortunately we had enough dry spells to put up the tents and get a fire going.
It is such a beautiful place to stay.
We had a barbecue, went for a walk up in the hills and chilled out by the stream in the evening.
In the morning I got up at 6:30. I was the first one up. I went for a walk and took in the scenery. I collected some firewood and got the fire going again. I always imagine what it must have been like for my ancestors when I'm in the hills of Scotland, having to survive in that kind of habitat. The main thing would be finding food and keeping warm and dry...
Anyway, once everyone was up, we set off because we didn't have enough food left to stay any longer.
It was an uncomfortable experience in many ways (with the rain and the midges and the sleep in the tent) but I've always wanted to do it and there's something awesome about being away from city life with no manmade amenities or pollutants anywhere nearby.
I'm shattered now though.
: )
