Jul. 23rd, 2017 08:36 amI had a crazy week at school last week. I went to see the Head about my poor lesson observation. It probably sounds trivial but senior management can put a lot of pressure on you for poor lesson observations. A few staff that have either left or taken time off for depression from the stress. They've stayed pretty much off my back up 'til now but this Head is fairly new and I wanted to make my case that I run a good department. I think I managed to express myself alright. I felt better afterwards anyway. He couldn't undermine the woman that did the observation but he said he'd get the RE advisor to observe me next time - I think that's a good thing.
Then he gave me a list of jobs that another member of senior management put together for me. : / I found it a bit frustrating because it was a list of loads of pointless paperwork tasks. I tried to do them all at the same time and got nowhere but I think I've scrambled my way through them now. I think...
The students finished school on Friday. I've just got two more days in school on Monday and Tuesday. It feels good to remind myself of that. I just hope that management don't stress me out on those days and give me more stuff to do. We're supposed to be using the time to tidy our rooms. We'll see.
Last night we had a bar-b at our house to say goodbye to a youth-worker from church. There were 16 youth here. It was ok although I wasn't feeling particularly sociable. After they'd gone I sat by the door and just listened to the rain for half an hour by myself. It was beautiful.

This morning I got up at 8:30 and walked to the nearest shop to buy a newspaper. I haven't done that for ages. It doesn't sound like much but a simple relaxing stroll was what I needed. When I got back I put some fresh coffee on and took my time. Then I had a workout. Then I painted the garden gate. It felt good doing physical work for a change. : )
