Today felt a bit surreal being in the house alone.
I lay in bed and watched this strange film called 'The Further Adventures of Anse and Bhule in No-Man's Land'. It was so weird that it made me feel even more out of touch with reality. Normally I like weird but this was too much and I gave up on it after about half an hour.
Then I found a Serbian film called 'The Disobedient' (directed by Mina Djukic). Absolutely brilliant. Very subtle but intense. It's about a boy and a girl who are old childhood friends. They lose contact but meet up again when they are 24 years old and go on a 10 day bike-ride/road trip. There's lots of symbolism in it, a bizarre soundtrack, not much dialogue, quirky characters, there's even an Ian McShane-type character who narrates it now and then.
If you're into unusual European films that explore that subtle but profound connection that can exist between two people, I can't recommend it enough.
(It is subtle though, so don't blame me if I've over-hyped it) ; )

You should give Anse and Bhule another try on a less weird day.
