We had more lesson observations this week. It really is 'hit and miss' who observes you and how you get rated. I observed my colleague (along with a member of senior management who is known for being generous) and we both rated the lesson 'good' which really lifted my colleagues spirits.
Then, in the afternoon I was observed by a colleague who is known for being harsh. The lesson went really well, the kids were really into it, and I got rated as 'requires improvement'...

Sorry you ended up getting stuck with the more strict colleague, Andy. What matters is that the kids are responding to your lessons, though I know there's the bureaucratic hogwash you're having to deal with also. It's what teachers over here can't stand either, and eventually end up leaving the career, not over the students, since they love them, but the other forms of red tape and pressures that have little to do with the kids and what's best for them.
